Resident: Evil Afterlife 2010 Better

Afterlife sits in the sweet spot. It has (the 3D cinematography), substance (tight pacing, game-accurate monsters), and stupidity (slow-motion coin ricochets) in perfect balance. It is the Fast Five of the Resident Evil series—the moment the franchise stopped trying to be scary or deep and accepted that it was a kinetic, comic-book action franchise.

When it was released, Afterlife received mixed reviews (a 28% on Rotten Tomatoes) and was seen as a step down from the grim Extinction . However, viewed a decade later through the lens of modern blockbuster fatigue and the rise of “elevated” horror, Afterlife stands out as the tightest, most stylish, and most genuinely fun entry in the entire series.
