Elizabeth Halsey is a lazy and unmotivated teacher who doesn't seem to care about her students or her job. She's more interested in getting drunk during school hours and flirting with her male colleagues. However, her life takes a turn when she discovers she's pregnant and decides to become a better person for the sake of her unborn child.
The movie also explores themes of friendship and love. Elizabeth's relationships with her colleagues, particularly Scott, are authentic and well-developed. The film shows that even the most unlikely people can become close friends and support each other in their personal and professional lives.
As Elizabeth navigates her pregnancy and tries to become a more responsible person, she also has to deal with her annoying principal, Pamela (Maggie Gyllenhaal), and her new co-teacher, Scott (Justin Timberlake). Despite her best efforts, Elizabeth's past behavior comes back to haunt her, and she must confront her flaws and become a better teacher for her students.
